Terri Allender: Art With Heart

Trio Therapy Partners is a 501-C3 non profit begun in 2014 by Lauren Cremonese and Amanda Moody. Trio offers equine assisted activities to children and adults in Eagle County. Horse assisted therapy is a powerful tool to improve the functional performance and quality of life for individuals living with a variety of physical, cognitive and social/emotional challenges.
What is Art with Heart?
I love to paint but I discovered that I don't enjoy selling my artwork. I came up with the idea to donate the proceeds of my art to a local non-profit, the Sherpa Foundation. I began by doing commissioned portraits of horses. I charged only for my materials and requested that the commissioners donate a minimum amount to the Sherpa Foundation. I have since added Trio Therapy Partners (equine assisted physical and occupational therapy) after I began volunteering for them in 2019. If I sell a painting now, I only charge for the cost of materials and donate the balance to one of these two wonderful organizations.

The Sherpa Foundation was begun in 2015 by Vail resident Pemba Sherpa after an earthquake devastated his native country of Nepal. Pemba used his own money to travel to Nepal to help the donations reach the poorest areas, and continues to travel there annually to help one of the poorest countries in the world.
